Prince William Joins Heads Together to Tackle Mental Health Stigma

In partnership with the mental health charity Heads Together, Prince William has stepped onto the football pitch to help “generate the biggest ever conversation around mental health.” By using the power of sport and teamwork, the campaign highlights the importance of open conversations about wellbeing and resilience.

Why open conversations matter

Prince William has been open about the impact of losing his mother, Princess Diana, and continues to champion the importance of emotional honesty. Speaking to familiar faces, he explained:

“We’ve got to relax a little bit and be able to talk about emotions, because we’re not robots.”

This message resonates strongly across society – and is especially meaningful for mental health workers, NHS staff, and CAMHS professionals who encourage children, young people, and families to talk about their feelings.

Tackling stigma through teamwork

The Heads Together campaign aims to normalise conversations around mental health, breaking down stigma in workplaces, schools, and communities. By joining forces with sports figures and the media, Prince William is helping to show that mental health is just as important as physical health.

For those working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), this visibility helps reinforce the message that emotional wellbeing should be discussed openly, without shame.
