CAMHS Professionals are specialist mental health recruiters, and we’re always looking for experienced Registered Managers to join our nationwide network on a contract basis. If you have a track record of leading regulated mental health or social care services to a high standard — we want to hear from you.
What the role actually looks like
- CAMHS residential and inpatient services
- Supported living services for young people and adults with mental health needs
- Community mental health services
- Crisis and step-down residential units
- Independent mental health providers
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Holding CQC (or equivalent) registration and taking overall responsibility for the quality and compliance of the service
- Providing strong operational and strategic leadership to the service and its staff team
- Ensuring the service meets all regulatory requirements, including CQC fundamental standards and relevant legislation
- Leading on recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, and performance management of staff
- Overseeing safeguarding processes, incident management, and risk escalation
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with commissioners, inspectors, families, and external agencies
- Managing budgets, resources, and contracts in line with organisational requirements
- Leading on preparation for and management of CQC inspections
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and person-centred care
- Maintaining accurate governance, reporting, and compliance documentation
What we need from you —
Essential:
- Current or previous CQC Registered Manager status (or equivalent regulatory registration)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience managing a regulated mental health or social care service
- Strong working knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding legislation, and the Mental Health Act
- Proven leadership, staff management, and operational management skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication skills — able to engage effectively at all levels including with commissioners and inspectors
Desirable (but not always required):
- Experience specifically within CAMHS, young people’s services, or specialist mental health
- Track record of achieving Good or Outstanding CQC ratings
- Experience turning around services rated Inadequate or Requires Improvement
- Financial management and budgetary experience at service level
- Degree-level qualification in health, social care, or a related field
