CAMHS Team Leader

Contract  |  CAMHS Professionals  |  Nationwide  |  Support Worker

You’ve got the experience to lead. Now find a contract that puts you where your leadership actually matters.

CAMHS Professionals are specialist mental health recruiters, and we’re always looking for experienced Team Leaders to join our nationwide network on a contract basis. If you’ve got a background in mental health or social care and the confidence to lead a team delivering high-quality support — we want to hear from you.

What the role actually looks like

  • CAMHS inpatient wards
  • Tier 3 & Tier 4 services
  • Crisis and home treatment teams
  • Eating disorder units
  • Early intervention and neurodevelopmental services

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to a team of support workers and care staff
  • Overseeing the delivery of person-centred care and support in line with individual care plans and organisational policies
  • Conducting supervisions, appraisals, and team briefings for junior staff
  • Supporting the induction and training of new team members
  • Acting as a point of escalation for complex or urgent situations, responding calmly and decisively
  • Monitoring and reviewing care plans, risk assessments, and documentation — ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Liaising with clinical staff, families, commissioners, and external agencies
  • Completing rotas, shift management, and reporting requirements as directed by the Registered Manager
  • Upholding and promoting safeguarding standards across the team
  • Contributing to audits, quality improvement, and CQC compliance activities

What we need from you —

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a senior support worker or team leader role within mental health or social care
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
  • Up-to-date mandatory training — BLS, safeguarding, manual handling
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, CQC standards, and care legislation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure, and make decisions confidently
  • Flexible approach to working hours including weekend and on-call cover where required

Desirable (but not always required):

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (Level 4/5 advantageous)
  • Experience within CAMHS, young people’s services, or specialist mental health settings
  • PMVA or de-escalation training
  • Experience with PBS frameworks and managing behaviours that challenge
  • Previous involvement in CQC inspections or regulatory compliance

What you’ll get from us:

  • Contract rates that are genuinely competitive — no vague promises
  • Flexible contract lengths — short, long, rolling, you decide
  • One dedicated consultant who specialises in your field — not a generalist with a list
  • Fast, hassle-free compliance and onboarding
  • Access to contracts not advertised on the general job boards
  • Real ongoing support throughout your placement — not just at the start
