Family Support Worker

Contract  |  CAMHS Professionals  |  Nationwide  |  Support Worker

Supporting a child means supporting the whole family. If you understand that, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.

CAMHS Professionals are specialist mental health recruiters, and we’re always looking for compassionate Family Support Workers to join our nationwide network on a contract basis. If you have experience working with families alongside children and young people in a mental health or social care context, we’d love to hear from you.

What the role actually looks like

  • CAMHS community teams
  • Early help and family intervention services
  • Tier 2 and Tier 3 CAMHS
  • Crisis and home treatment teams
  • Children’s social care and multi-agency settings

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Building trusting, supportive relationships with families of children and young people accessing CAMHS
  • Providing practical and emotional support to parents and carers to help them support their child’s mental health and wellbeing
  • Delivering structured family-based interventions and parenting support programmes
  • Conducting family needs assessments and contributing to care planning alongside the clinical team
  • Advocating for families within MDTs and multi-agency networks
  • Supporting families to access wider community resources, benefits, housing, and education services
  • Facilitating family meetings and reviews in collaboration with clinicians and social workers
  • Keeping accurate records of family contacts, interventions, and outcomes
  • Contributing to safeguarding processes and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Attending team meetings, supervision, and training as required

What we need from you —

Essential:

  • Experience working with families in a mental health, social care, or early intervention setting
  • A genuine commitment to family-centred, strengths-based practice
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
  • Up-to-date mandatory training including safeguarding children Level 2+
  • Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work sensitively with families in difficult or complex circumstances
  • Good record keeping and report writing abilities

Desirable (but not always required):

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Childcare, or equivalent
  • Experience delivering parenting programmes (e.g. Triple P, Webster-Stratton, NVR)
  • Knowledge of children’s mental health, trauma-informed care, or attachment theory
  • Experience within CAMHS or a specialist children’s mental health service
  • A relevant qualification in family work, social work, or counselling

What you’ll get from us:

  • Contract rates that are genuinely competitive — no vague promises
  • Flexible contract lengths — short, long, rolling, you decide
  • One dedicated consultant who specialises in your field — not a generalist with a list
  • Fast, hassle-free compliance and onboarding
  • Access to contracts not advertised on the general job boards
  • Real ongoing support throughout your placement — not just at the start
