Community Support Worker

CAMHS Professionals is excited to recruit experienced Support Workers to join our teams nationwide. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with young people experiencing moderate to severe emotional, behavioural, or mental health difficulties. We are seeking candidates across a range of professional backgrounds, including Family Therapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work, and Mental Health Practice.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will provide compassionate, high-quality care to children and young people, supporting them in their recovery journey and empowering them to achieve their potential. You will work both within clinical settings and in community, educational, or home environments, contributing to personalised care planning and service development. This role is ideal for enthusiastic, flexible individuals who value creative approaches to care and partnership working with young people, their families, and wider professional networks.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver care and support to children and young people experiencing a range of emotional and mental health difficulties.
  • Empower young people in their recovery journey and help them build resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with parents/carers to implement interventions, strategies, and activities promoting health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Apply knowledge and evidence-based practice to deliver guidance and support to children, young people, and families.
  • Provide flexible support across clinic, home, school, and community settings.
  • Advocate for children and young people to access services and wider support networks.
  • Conduct school and home observations as required.
  • Adapt interventions to meet the emotional needs of children and young people, embedding recovery-focused approaches.
  • Participate in multi-agency and network meetings as required.
  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to promote the safety and welfare of children and young people.
  • Contribute to research, evaluation, and service development initiatives to ensure care is responsive, effective, and equitable.

 

Qualifications

  • Relevant NVQ or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
  • Good general education up to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Willingness to undertake training to meet competency frameworks.
  • Completion of Care Certificate training.

 

Required Skills

  • Experience working with children and/or parents, ideally in a clinical or community setting.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality care and service provision.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative and providing relevant feedback.
  • Experience supporting children and young people on a 1:1 basis.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of normal child development.
  • Knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience supporting families experiencing difficulties.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, SEND reforms, and current child welfare guidance.
