Registered Children’s Home Manager

Salary: £[50,000] – £[80,000] per annum + benefits

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead and develop a high-quality residential children’s service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the home, ensuring outstanding care outcomes for children and young people in line with Ofsted regulations, legislation, and best practice.
This is a key leadership role for a professional who is committed to safeguarding, therapeutic care, and creating a stable, nurturing environment where children can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
- Lead, motivate, and develop a residential care team to deliver high-quality, child-centred care
- Ensure the home consistently meets or exceeds Ofsted Quality Standards
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times
- Manage care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
- Oversee recruitment, supervision, appraisals, and staff development
- Manage the home’s budget, resources, and occupancy effectively
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, families, and external professionals
- Drive continuous improvement and prepare for inspections and audits
- Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Experience managing or deputising in a children’s residential home
- Proven track record of Ofsted compliance and positive inspection outcomes
- Strong knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding, and residential care standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a trauma-informed manner
- Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS check
Desirable
- Experience working with children with EBD, trauma, or complex needs
- Experience of opening or turning around a children’s home
- Therapeutic or psychology-informed care experience
